Good news for anyone using Google’s Nest Wifi Pro mesh system! After a bit of a wait, a new software update has finally started rolling out. This important update promises better whole-home Thread coverage for your smart devices, includes general stability and security fixes, and specifically addresses a setup issue for the Yale Smart Lock with Matter.

What Does This Update Do?
The update, version 3.76.479819, brings a couple of key improvements that matter for your connected home:
- Boosted Thread Performance: Thread is a special technology that helps your smart home devices communicate with each other more reliably, especially over longer distances or through walls. This update aims to make that whole-home coverage even stronger, meaning your smart lights, sensors, and other compatible gadgets should connect and respond more consistently.
- Stability and Security: Like most software updates, this version includes standard fixes to make the system more stable overall and patch up any potential security weak spots. It’s the digital equivalent of a tune-up and checking the locks.
- Fix for Yale Smart Lock with Matter: This is a big one for owners of the new Yale Smart Lock designed to work with Matter. Some users had trouble getting this specific lock set up with their Nest Wifi Pro, and this update directly addresses that problem, making the setup process smoother.
Why This Update Took a While
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we heard about some of these changes. Google had an update (version 3.75) planned for April with a similar description, but that rollout never actually happened. So, this version 3.76 is the real deal and the first update Nest Wifi Pro users have received since way back in December.
How to Get the Update
Your Nest Wifi Pro system is designed to update itself automatically, often overnight when your network isn’t being heavily used. You probably don’t need to do anything!
However, if you want to check if you have the latest version or want to try and nudge it along, you can always restart your router. Sometimes a simple reboot is all it takes.

This latest Nest Wifi Pro update is a solid step forward, especially for those building a smart home ecosystem using technologies like Thread and Matter. The improved reliability and specific fix for the Yale Smart Lock are practical benefits that many users will appreciate. Make sure your system is updated to get the most stable and connected experience!
