Hunt: Showdown Devs Share Player Feedback and Upcoming Changes

The developers behind the intense bounty-hunting game Hunt: Showdown have just pulled back the curtain on what they learned from recent player surveys. It turns out your feedback is making a real difference, leading to adjustments in upcoming game updates, especially concerning events, challenges, and rewards. Here’s a breakdown of what players said and what’s coming next.

Surveys are a key way the Hunt: Showdown team gathers insights, and they’re working to make them more accessible globally, including adding translations and keeping surveys open longer after events. Let’s dive into the specifics from the feedback on Update 2.3.

Event & Battle Pass Insights

Player satisfaction with the Battle Pass for the “Garden of the Witch” event wasn’t as high as usual, with only 47% of players reporting satisfaction. The developers acknowledge this felt off compared to previous events.

They explained that their focus for Update 2.3 was prioritizing crucial bug fixes and performance improvements. This meant fewer resources were available for creating the typical amount of new content for this specific event. While essential for the game’s health, it resulted in the event feeling less substantial. The good news? Those extra resources also went into planning and designing future events, which the team is excited to share soon.

Weekly Challenge Breakdown

Weekly Challenges are a big part of earning Event Points. Overall, 61% of players felt “Satisfied” or “Very Satisfied” with the amount of points awarded from these challenges.

The team also asked about favorite and most frustrating challenges. Here’s what players found easiest versus hardest:

  • Least Frustrating (Easiest):

    • Looting Hunters, Ammo Tools, Consumables (1% found frustrating)
    • Collecting Clues or Closing Rifts (1.22% found frustrating)
    • Restoring Health for yourself or teammates (1.2% found frustrating)
  • Most Frustrating (Hardest):

    • Landing headshots on enemy Hunters with Equipment (22.4% found frustrating)
    • Dealing Damage to enemy Hunters using Traps or Consumables (29.2% found frustrating)
    • Performing Clean Sweeps (41.2% found frustrating)

“Performing Clean Sweeps” (defeating all enemy teams on the map) was, not surprisingly, the top frustration. It’s a tough goal to achieve consistently, regardless of skill level. The developers aim for a good mix of challenges that are achievable but also offer a sense of accomplishment for harder tasks. They will keep monitoring feedback on challenges.

On the balance of challenge types, 75% of players felt the number of PvP (player vs player) and PvE (player vs environment) challenges was just right. However, 30% felt there weren’t enough total Weekly Challenges available in the Battle Pass.

The team has noticed comments and survey responses about the reduced number of Weekly Challenges. They plan to make adjustments based on this feedback. Some changes will start rolling out in Update 2.4, specifically altering how Weekly Challenges work during events. The goal is to find a better balance between challenge variety, event length, and rewards for a more enjoyable experience. Not all planned changes will be in 2.4, as feedback came in as that update was being finalized, but more will arrive in Update 2.5 and beyond.

Pledge Mark System & Supply Point Rewards

The Pledge Mark system and its associated Supply Point rewards seem to be largely hitting the mark. Most players are happy with the rewards available at the Rare Supply Point tier.

One reward that didn’t receive as much love was the Dark Sight Boost. Players might find its short duration limiting or feel it shouldn’t be accessible without a Bounty Token. The developers are looking into this specific reward for the future.

Regarding the cost of rewards, players thought the Full Ammo Restock felt a bit expensive, while the Full Health Restoration seemed like a fair deal. The team suspects how often these rewards are useful in a match might influence how players perceive their cost.

Based on survey results and in-game data, the developers don’t plan major overhauls to this system right now, as it seems to be functioning mostly as intended. However, they will continue to monitor it throughout the year.

Event Equipment, Traits, and Balance

Feedback on the equipment introduced specifically for this event was mixed, leaning neutral to negative. The developers acknowledge that this gear didn’t quite click with the community and are committed to addressing this in future updates.

When it came to Traits (special abilities), players felt that Corpse Seer and Gunrunner were more powerful than Blademancer, with 50% seeing Blademancer as neither strong nor weak.

Most of the general balance changes in the update were well-received, which is great news. The developers plan to release a dedicated Dev Diary to explain the impact of changes like the “Silencer damage reduction” and “Stamina & Regeneration Shot Duration Reduction” in more detail.

Introducing new weapons wasn’t a main focus for this update, and the survey results reflected this with lower scores in that area compared to other weapons already in the game. Instead, the team focused on enhancing Traits and implementing balance changes, which, as the charts show, were largely successful and appreciated.

Overall, this look at the survey results highlights that the Hunt: Showdown team is actively listening. Your feedback directly influences what they work on and how they refine the game’s events, systems, and balance. Keep an eye out for announcements about the next event coming soon!
