Google Gemini is getting a smart new feature that lets you set it and forget it! Called “Scheduled Actions,” this update allows Gemini to perform tasks for you automatically at specific times or intervals, essentially turning your AI assistant into a proactive personal helper. This means less remembering for you and more convenient, automated insights and actions.

What Are Scheduled Actions?
Think of Scheduled Actions as telling Gemini, “Hey, do this for me later, or even better, do it every day/week.” Instead of needing to open the app and ask Gemini a question each time, you can now schedule prompts to run automatically. This could be getting your daily news summary, a weather report tailored to your plans, or even creative writing prompts on a specific day.

How to Set Up a Scheduled Action
Getting started is straightforward. When you’re giving Gemini a command, simply include details about when and how often you want it to happen. For example, you could say, “Give me a summary of the top three news headlines every morning at 8 AM,” or “Remind me to water my plants every Wednesday afternoon.”
Once you provide the details in your prompt, Gemini will confirm the scheduled task with you. After confirmation, it automatically adds the action to your list of scheduled items.

It’s important to note that while you set a specific time, the action will typically run within an hour of that time.
Managing Your Automated Tasks
So, where do you keep track of all the tasks you’ve handed off to Gemini? Google provides a central spot to view and manage your Scheduled Actions.
- On Mobile (Android and iOS): Open the profile menu within the Gemini app and look for the “Scheduled actions” option.
- On the Web: Access the list via the side panel under “Settings & help,” or go directly to gemini.google.com/scheduled.

From this list, you have basic control on mobile, letting you Pause/Resume or Delete an action.

The web interface offers a bit more power. On the web, you can not only Pause/Resume or Delete actions but also use a richer editor to rename them, change the original prompt or instruction, and adjust the scheduling frequency (daily, weekly, monthly).

Currently, you can have up to 10 Scheduled Actions running at any given time.
Practical Ways This Helps You
This feature isn’t just a technical add-on; it’s designed to weave Gemini more seamlessly into your daily routine and save you time. Here are a few ways you might use it:
- Start Your Day Organized: Schedule Gemini to give you a quick summary of your calendar, important to-dos, and unread emails first thing in the morning.
- Stay Informed and Prepared: Get daily weather updates or even outfit suggestions based on items you tell Gemini you own.
- Never Miss Out: Receive weekly rollups of local events, new restaurant openings, or updates on your favorite topics, like news about an artist.
- Boost Your Creativity: Schedule prompts to kickstart your creative process, like getting five blog post ideas every Monday.
- Catch Up Easily: Set a one-off schedule to get a summary of a specific event, like an awards show or conference, the day after it happens.
Who Can Use Scheduled Actions?
This feature is rolling out to users with Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscriptions. It’s also available for those on “qualifying Google Workspace business and education plans” that include access to these enhanced AI features.
This update makes Gemini a more powerful tool for managing information and staying on top of recurring tasks, offering a glimpse into how AI can proactively assist us throughout our busy lives.
